Welcome to Wharekawa Coastal Farm. This special place just 15 minutes drive from Whangamata, sits on a plot of 50 hectares that you arrive at via an unpaved 6km road. It is wrapped to the West and North by the Wharekawa River estuary as the river winds it final turn to the Pacific Ocean. To the south lies forestry creating a 'land island' and the ultimate sense of privacy.
Boasting two private beaches, idyllic picnic spots and lookouts, friendly dairy cows and stunning secret walking tracks – you’re guaranteed to experience some of the best natural beauty NZ has to offer.
This Onemana holiday home is a perfect retreat, with cleaning and linen included in the rate. The main Summerhouse has open-plan living, and lovely indoor/outdoor flow. With generous windows positioned along each side of the home, you can take in the magic scenery from every room. Enjoy sitting out on the deck enjoying an al fresco BBQ while taking in your breath-taking surrounds!
Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, and bedroom 2 has two single beds. The setup is completed with a bathroom with bath / shower, sink, and toilet.
The barn sleep-out is to the rear of the main dwelling. There are 4 single beds and a cosy lounge area at the far end of this room. The setup is completed with a bathroom with 2 showers and 2 toilets. Each shower and toilet are set on opposite sides of the bathroom to create a level of privacy.
Activities on site include a 1 km river walk during mid to low tide, a 1 km walk through an ancient pohutukawa forrest to a Maori Pa site and a headland where you will find a picnic table and running water. There are many safe swimming spots, as well as kayak and boogie boards for use at the beach and on the river. You can also enjoy ocean fishing from the rocks, weather permitting.
Wharekawa Coastal Farm is also a place from which from you can easily explore central Coromandel from Whangamata to Tairua.
