Tophouse Homestead Historic Bed and Breakfast is a Category A Historic Place listed with The New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Built in 1887 as a hotel in the wild mountains of New Zealand, Tophouse is a solid mud (called “cob”) building with six guestrooms and an open fire burning continuously since 1988.
Tophouse is located 9 km from St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes, just over an hour's drive from Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park, Golden Bay, Marlborough or the West Coast and situated on a 700 acre farm, with amazing alpine views.

SELF CONTAINED ACCOMMODATION
In addition to the main house bed and breakfast, the property offers Mountainview Chalets, two bedroom self contained accommodation housing 4 to 6 people each. Pets and children welcome.
RESTAURANT
Tophouse offers a fixed menu dinner by pre-booking only. Mains include such specialties as wild venison and wild pig. Tophouse is a fully licensed facility.
Devonshire teas a specialty featuring tea, coffee and homemade scones.

THE WORLD’S SMALLEST BAR
Well, not entirely sure about the whole world, but the smallest we have ever seen. Tophouse is one of very few B&Bs with licensed premises.
